Vaux & Olmsted lets you earn points for time in Prospect Park and build a dominion of virtual parcels. Cleaning is optional and earns 2× points. This page explains what is collected and what becomes public.

What is collected
Your name. The first name you enter. It is shown publicly on the map beside
any parcel you keep.
Your photograph. The portrait you add. It is shown publicly on the map, on
your parcels, and to anyone browsing — signed in or not. See *Photographs are
public*, below.
Your neighborhood. The neighborhood you select. Shown publicly
alongside your name.
Your Apple account identifier and email address. Sign in with Apple is the
only way to sign in. Apple gives us an account identifier and an email address —
usually Apple's private relay address, not your real one, if you chose to hide
it. We never see your Apple password.
Private arrival and park-time verification. Arrival Check-in is off until
you turn it on. If enabled, iOS monitors coarse circular regions covering
Prospect Park and may show a local notification when you approach. The app keeps
the switch and recent-arrival time on your device; it sends no geofence entry or
coordinate to the server. Arrival Check-in never starts a timer. After you open
the app and confirm, precise fixes decide which parcel earns time. A confirmed
session may continue with the phone locked and stops when you leave the park,
press Stop, or reach eight hours. The database stores account, parcel and
credited seconds, but never coordinates or a route. Your location is never
displayed to other people.
Photographs of your work. The proof photograph you publish for each
cleanup, and anything you add to a parcel's album.
Cleanup records. Which parcel, how long, and when.
Completed visits and lifetime totals. Verified time and lifetime earned points appear on keeper profiles and standings, even after land is lost. A visit's per-parcel receipt stays private unless you choose Publish completed visit. That action makes your identity, parcel and credited duration public for kudos. Stopping a session does not publish it. No route or live location is shared.
Which parcels you follow. Following is public: your face appears on the
parcel you follow, so its keeper can see who is following it.
A notification token, if you allow notifications, so the app can tell your
device when land changes hands.
What is not collected
No advertising identifiers. No analytics or tracking SDKs. No contacts, no
calendar, no microphone, no health data, no browsing activity. Nothing is sold,
and nothing is shared with data brokers or advertisers. You are not tracked
across other apps or websites.
Photographs are public
Portraits and cleanup photographs are stored in public buckets. That is
deliberate — a parcel shows its keeper's face to anyone walking the map, and the
album is the evidence the land is kept. It also means those images are readable
by anyone who has, or can guess, their address, without signing in.
Do not photograph anything you would not put on a public website, including
other people. Profiles and media can be reported; blocking removes a keeper from
the blocker's signed-in experience, and the operator can hide reported content.
Who else is involved
- Supabase hosts the database, authentication and image storage. Data is
stored in the United States.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple and delivers push notifications. A
notification's text — for example, "somebody claimed a parcel you follow" —
passes through Apple's servers. Private report alerts sent only to the operator
may identify the reported keeper or parcel and the report reason.
That is the complete list. There are no other processors.
How long it is kept
Your parcels, parcel scores, cleanups and photographs are kept while your
account exists, because a parcel's history is the point of it. Delete your
account and your profile, photographs and parcel records are deleted with it;
your portrait is removed from storage automatically.
Delete Account is available in Settings. Deleting the app alone does not delete
the account.
Your choices
- Arrival Check-in can be turned off independently. Location and notification
permissions can be refused or revoked at any time in iOS Settings. Browsing and
a remote starter claim still work without location; recording verified time does not.
- You can report content, block a keeper, and delete your account in Settings.
Publishing a completed visit is optional and requires a separate confirmation. You can keep the visit receipt private and still receive all its time points.
